Abstract

In September 1992, ACEA presented its study on the development of pedestrian accidents in Europe to representatives from EC Member States and the Commission. The principle conclusion that ACEA was able to draw from that study has been that implementation of the draft Directive could not be justified economically because of its unfavourable average cost benefit ratio of about 57 in terms of fatal accident reduction.
