Abstract

The Highway Safety and Federal- Aid Highway Acts have included programs directed to increased mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists. Requirements have been established related to the planning of new bicycle facilities. New programs for bikeways have recently been established and are under development. The objective of these programs is to increase mobility and reduce the frequency and severity of pedestrian and bicyclists accidents.
