Abstract

The study presented in this paper provides general information of accident rates for vulnerable road users. The analysis compares the homogenous time periods 1990-01 and 1993-98. The previous time period is characterised by a rapid and severe rise in accidents. The latter period is characterised by improvements and stagnation in accident figures. The paper presents more details concerning age distribution of the accidents victims and also presents an analysis of statistics from Hungarian hospitals together with a comparison of official police records.
