Abstract

The operation of Zebra and Pelican crossings are discussed. Pedestrian behaviour based on observation made while recording data for a major study of delays at pedestrian crossings is described.Pedestrian delay is much lower at Zebra crossings than at Pelican crossings. New rules for increasing the pedestrian green phase of the lights is wanted.
