Abstract

This study is a response to a dearth of material on Nigerian pedestrian behaviour and data were collected for a selected range of local, collector and arterial roads in Ife, Nigeria, a major city of 218.000 (1984 pop.) The focus in this chapter is a description of pedestrian crossing flows at three arterial road sites, by season, and includes an attempt to determine factors which influence the rate of these pedestrian flows.
