Abstract

The objective of the subject study was to increase thelinowledhe of the veluicle/pedestrian injury severity para-meters to such an extent that the data could be the basisfor programs aimed at reducinb pedestrian injury severity.The Southwest Research Institute desibned a pedestrian ac-cident sampling plan that was representative of the totalpeclestrian accident population in the City of San Antonio,and investigated a total of 451 pedestxian accidents in thestudy area. This report addresses the sampling scheme,notification system, procedures developed, techniques used,and the problem areas associated with the subject contract.
