Abstract

Two types of measures are dealt with for countering pedestrian injury in residential areas: child pedestrian training and the construction of (residential) yards, "woonerven". The child pedestrian program is explained in great detail, in terms of a vast research programme on children in traffic, involving accident, behaviour and exposure studies, and studies on psychological abilities and training methods.
