Abstract

An improved pedestrian safety program requires giving either the motorist, the pedestrian, or both, sufficient information about the other's presence with enough time allowed for proper evasive action or other positive reaction to be taken. Traffic law supervision and enforcement of both driver and pedestrian offenses can be a major countermeasure to reduce pedestrian-vehicle conflicts.
