Abstract

A systems approach must be taken in the planning and design of interchanges and intersections to achieve safety for pedestrians in conjunction with bus transport. This paper presents and defines the systems approach and considerations, and then applies these to specific interchange and intersection situations to demonstrate practical solutions to the pedestrian safety problem.
