Pedestrian safety : the role of research.

Abstract

Information is given on pedestrian and vehicle flows and pedestrian casualties in four big cities. It is shown that risk levels were remarkably similar. A consistent pattern in the distribution of risks over different sections of road in the cities was found. Recommendations are made as to which measures can do implemented to improve pedestrian safety.
