Abstract

The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety has released a report that examines walking speeds of pedestrians when crossing under signal control, the impact of age on walking speeds, and pedestrians’ understanding of pedestrian countdown signals. The report also explores the impacts of countdown signals on pedestrian behavior and walking speeds, and the impact of the amount of time allocated for pedestrian intervals on traffic operations including vehicle delay.
