Abstract

An introductory description is given of the conditions under which different categories of pedestrians are able to cope with traffic situations, in particular the possibilities for children, the aged and the handicapped to move around. Using this as a basis, a description is given of the location and design criteria for footpath networks and for the structures included in the road network. Technical aspects of the design of footpaths, pavements, and pedestrian crossings are also included.
