Abstract

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board 1828 focuses on the safety and convenience of pedestrian and bicycle travel in urban and rural areas. Among the pedestrian research topics covered are methods to reduce traffic speeds in high-pedestrian rural areas, an analysis of North Carolina’s guidelines for school walk zones, and an examination of pedestrian safety with a raised median and redesigned intersections. This issue also covers the safety of intersections for cyclists and preferred commuter bicycle routes. The papers contained in this volume were among those presented at the 82nd Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in January 2003. For abstracts of some of the papers see C 32781 - C 32795.
