People, Goods and Services Urban System PEGASUS : Texas' corridor control concept.

Abstract

To help to reduce traffic congestion on roads in Texas, by more efficient methods of traffic management, the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation has developed PEGASUS (People, Goods and Services Urban System). PEGASUS a distributed intelligence system, is described. The roles of PEGASUS in terms of three major elements of traffic management: surveillance, analysis and control is outlined.
