Abstract

The aim of this note is to report some findings regarding the influence of perceived bicycle safety on the decision to use bike to travel to work. The data source for these findings is the Adelaide Travel Demand and Time Allocation Survey (ATDATAS) . It is shown that as a commuting option bicycles have achieved very low market penetration and that bicycles lack safety credibility as a commuting mode.
