Abstract

For the abstract of this paper see C 42ract C 42: In the present study the effects of two different types of road presentation were compared with regard to appreciation, perception and activation. Twenty-two subjects were asked to drive four times on a part of the A2 highway. The test was performed twice in a mock-up and twice on the actual road. During the second ride in the mock-up as well as on the real road the subject was wearing a special apparatus for the registration of eye movements (COBRA). Furthermore, the Road Environment Constructs List (RECL) was applied outside the subject's appreciation of an actual road. During the test, mental load and driving were measured in a specially instrumented test-vehicle. The measures of driving behaviour were speed, steering movements and lateral position.
