Abstract

Perception in a complex field under road lighting conditions is examined. On the basis of experimental results, and taking into account a lower field factor than that for headlighting, a method to derive the luminance difference threshold is desired. The method allows the influences of the background luminance, the equivalent veiling luminance and the foveal adaptation luminance to be treated seperately. By means of the method guality parameters for road lighting can be integrated in relation to perception.
