Abstract

This paper proposes and investigates a spread spectrum (SS) system with interference canceller which can realize both ranging and communication between vehicles for intelligent transport systems. This is an extended case of the previously proposed SS ranging and communication system between a roadside and a vehicle. Since each vehicle transmits SS signals with equal power, received communication signals from other vehicles prevent detection of reflected ranging signals. Therefore, the proposed system cancels the communication signals in order to achieve accurate detection of reflected signals for ranging distance between vehicles. Performance of ranging and BER (bit error rate) is analyzed by computer simulations. (A*)
