Abstract

Advanced Metropolitan Transport Management (AMTM) systems will require performance measures to support their implementation and ongoing operations. These measures will help define the problems that AMTM will be able to solve; support ongoing management of the systems; and help to quantify the benefits of AMTM. The key measures will include average metropolitan travelspeed at peak periods; planning time or buffer index; transit schedule adherence; person throughput; peak period transit availability; and parking availability. Although the amount of Intelligent Transportation Systems data has increased dramatically recently, substantial additional data will be needed to support these and other performance measures.
