Abstract
This article looks at security technology that can also deliver environmental benefits. To meet widening challenges, such as rising cost of energy and raw material and work time restrictions, the distribution industry is increasingly turning to technology. It includes information about radio frequency identity devices (RFID), such as a security systems including electronic seals. Each time a trailer door closes, the seal unit electronically generates a random number which appears on a display which can then be checked by security staff. Other real-world applications are also discussed.
