Abstract

A permanent magnet Direct Current motor has been developed by the Fiat Research Centre mainly in order to study the impact of Samarium-Cobalt permanent magnets on the features of the electric machines, but also taking into consideration the possibilities of practical applications. It is concluded that the use of Samarium-Cobalt permanent magnets in the electrical machines with functions as motors and as generator, offers benefits in terms of specific power and torque as well as efficiency.
