Abstract
PSALM (Personalised Support and Learning Module) was originally conceived within the GIDS project, but was developed, realised and evaluated within the ARIADNE project. This progress resulted in HIM (History and Instructional Module), an intelligent on-board system which gives drivers "instructional support", i.e. information about the errors they commit. The support available comprises auditory messages which indicate that an error of a particular type has just been committed and haptic messages, such that counter forces on the Active Gas Pedal indicated when the driver was, for example, actually travelling too fast. The development and evaluation of HIM is described in this paper. (A)
