Abstract

Beyond free public information made available to road users by radios or specific supports such as Variable Message Signs on the Greater Paris highways, drivers more and more expect personalized, reliable and economic information aboard vehicles. They are ready to remunerate this service if it answers their specific needs. Today, the Ministry of Transport, which exploits the national road network in close contact with the police force, must, in collaboration with all concerned public and private partners, bring to road users the information they are waiting for. The Minister of Transport asked the Regional Direction of Equipment of the Greater Paris area to design a public structure which will be in charge of implementing personalized and targeted road information activities in a competitive setting.
