Abstract

The frequently argued hypothesis which claims that leisure mobility is increasingly important as a result of reductions in working hours is not generally supported by the data available for the Federal Republic of Germany on mobility development and on the developments in time and activity budgets in the past 20 years. This remains true even when pedestrian and cycle trips are taken into account.
