Abstract

Mr. Agle's proposal is a new type of vehicle: a cross between a self-propelled bus and a subway car, with doors on sides and ends. It could operate over both tracks and pavements, as a bus on local streets, a bus on special reserved lanes or arterial streets, and finally as a unit of a high-speed express train on rails. The last car of the train would be dropped off first, so that all passengers for the first stop ahead would have to walk back to the rear.
