Abstract

This pilot project, part of the CITIES project, is testing two methods of information transmission. The first is via the French Minitel system. It allows the user to choose, at the beginning of his or her trip, the "best" combination of modes of transportation, individual or collective. The second system, SIME (on-board multimodal information system), provides information on railway itineraries and schedules, and transmits in real time (by RDS-TMC) the occupancy level of Park and Ride facilities (PR) located near stations. It also provides information on any schedule disruptions to avoid inconveniences. The system architecture and methods used for evaluating the systems are presented.
