Abstract

The intent of this research was to investigate the contribution that records of driver's eye movements could make toward the description of a driver's visual sensing processes. A portable eyemaker system was used to collect date under actual driving conditions. Three subjects drove a 1963 sedan in conditions of open road driving at two velocity levels, car following at two headway levels, overtaking a leading vehicle, and freeway traffic.
