Abstract
A method for estimation of plain galvanized steel pipe service life based on the use of a modified california chart has been developed. Certain limitations in the california chart with respect to pipewaterside corrosion have been addressed. The method, based on results of field studies in the united states and south america, is amenable to use in different climates. This paper appears in transportation research record no. 1231, Analysis, design, and behavior of underground culverts.
