Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2174 contains 19 papers that explore wide-area congestion and incident monitoring; sustainability at state transportation agencies; governance of metropolitan planning organizations; estimating a state transportation infrastructure funding shortfall; microsimulation analysis of paratransit patron accessibility; using aggregated federal data to model freight in a medium-sized community; and using intelligent transportation system technologies to improve shuttle ridership. This issue of the TRR also examines prioritizing transportation projects; incorporating uncertainty into transportation decision making; the ConnectOregon multimodal funding program; establishing a collaborative environment in tribal transportation initiatives; measuring public outreach; measuring success in a transit agency's stakeholder involvement program; ramp metering and urban sprawl; excess commuting and jobs-housing balance; hedonic analysis of office space rent; accessibility-based multicriteria analysis for facility siting; residential property values and the built environment; and the effect of transit-oriented development on peak-hour congestion.
