Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2397 consists of 17 papers that explore statewide multimodal planning; active transit management; linking land use and transportation goals; life-cycle environmental assessments; public engagement in transportation planning; transportation affordability; the travel of residents in smart growth neighbourhoods; travel behaviour and transit trip generation in transit-oriented developments; the causality between build environments and travel behaviour; and the effects of fuel price and fuel economy on land use and transportation. This issue of the TRR also examines location and transportation effects on nonresidential real estate; the effect of land use on person miles travelled; the combined effects of compact development, transportation investments, and road user pricing on vehicle miles travelled in urbanized areas; transit use in low-income populations; integrating the military into the metropolitan transportation planning process; using technology to build and manage a public conversation on transportation issues; resiliency performance measures for mega-regional planning; and a mega-region network simulation for evacuation analysis.
