Abstract

A simple to use simulation model developed to simulate, at the planning level, the activities that occur at a typical roadside weight and safety screening station. The parameters can be modified by the user to simulate a faculty with different dimensions and parameters (longer ramps, more safety inspection bays, a higher rate of vehicle being selected for safety inspection, more or less vehicle failing weight screening at the WIM or static scales, etc.). The inputs and data requirements for the model are relatively minor and appropriate for planning level analysis.
