Abstract

The question is addressed what should or can be done in the area of planning to aid in the solution of problems in public transportation. Specific problems common to both long and short-range planning are identified as the lack of planners' responsiveness of involvement in long-range policy making, the absence of qualified personnel, the inability to predict the land use development impact, and the lack of planning techniques permitting design of desirable systems for the future.
