Abstract

This article is about urban and regional design. Design is were all the different threads have to come together to be woven into more sustainable communities. Discovering how to go about this designing for sustainability is what keeps Greenberg busy. The author uses Toronto and Saclay (near Versailles) to discuss questions about sustainable urban development. Of course urban designers do not know all the answers about how to make the cities more sustainable - but one gets the feeling that Greenberg gets pretty close to what it is all about. There exists a certain kinship between his approach and the world of urban traffic reform. (A)
