Abstract

The development of traffic and transportation planning on the local level in the Netherlands is considered in relation to the directions rules out by the Ministry of Transport. The evolution in the directives however is going in the direction of more freedom for local administration. The discussion focuses on the reasons why municipalities have the opposite feeling.
