Abstract

The efficient operation of the Greek highway network and the prospective harmonisation with the other European networks have brought into serious consideration the development of advanced traffic and travel information systems and services. Such developments will be undertaken by the Greek National Highway Fund (TEO), a public body responsible for the operation, management and maintenance of the major national interurban motorway network. The need for an upgraded role of TEO in the foreseen future requires an overall efficient traffic management and operation of all mobility and administrative management centres, the provision of integrated information systems and services to all types of intermediate and end users, and the improvement of toll fee collection procedures.
