Abstract

Better integration of transportation systems should be the goal of all transportation planners. Provision of transportation centers can aid in effecting additional intermodal transfer capability, thereby adding to the convenience of public transportation facilities. Result are presented of the approximate land use mixes involved from prior feasibility studies of transportation centers. Conclusions reached are that, with a proper mixture of activities, income from the non-transportation elements can offset deficits likely to accrue from operation of the transportation components, thereby supporting the economic feasibility and planning logic of development.
