Abstract
Existing literature on planning measures for pedestrian traffic in town centres is used in this report. In four chapters the following subjects are described: - dangerous position of pedestrian, general proposals to pedestrian safety, legislation, role of the police; -pedestrian characteristics, behaviour, density, speed; - planning measures, footways, pedestrian crossings, geometrical design; - recommendations for the planning of pedestrian facilities in town centres.
