Abstract

Planning of future pavement maintenance intervention incorporate decision making on many problems demanding expert knowledge to select the most appropriate options. Executing the planning by means of a PM-System engaging the maintenance engineer, use of the KBES methodology is essential, especially for PM-Systems operating in minor road authorities, where resources are scarce. This paper describes how KBES were introduced as elements in the interactive screen dialogue. The purpose, functioning and benefit of each KBES element is described in detail, as is the experience gained in commercial operation of KBES. It is concluded that KBES methodology is beneficial to the quality of maintenance and to continued ./.F3
