Abstract
In this article the authors note that library services in state departments of transportation and other organizations play a significant role in disseminating new technologies and research findings, leading to improvements in public safety, in freight and passenger movement, and in use of government resources. They also point out that increased investments are needed to establish and coordinate transportation knowledge management at the federal and state levels.
