Abstract

Developments in the transport sector and technology stimulated a process of innovation at the European Road Information Centre (ERIC). The objective of the current developments at ERIC is the enhancement of existing comprehensive road and travel information services for ERIC member organisations and end-users on the TERN. The resulting ERIC 2000 system provides structured and language independent road and travel information to an existing customer base of 50 million road users. System standards being used emanate from EU projects. ERIC 2000 was tested in 1994 and will be implemented before summer 1995.
