Abstract

Construction agencies are finding that precast units have several advantages as temporary safety installations. Their placement and removal are rapid and simple, reducing traffic delays and tie-ups. They can be made both esthetically attractive and highly visible. Their freedom from maintenance means not only cost savings but also safety; fewer maintenance workers are exposed to the hazards of closely passing vehicles. The concrete barrier design assures maximum protection and minimum vehicle damage for motorists who must drive through construction areas.
