Abstract
Based on information from a safety belt study engineers believe that possibly 8000 lives could be saved annually if all motorists wore seat belts. They believe also that the use of properly designed lap belts and shoulder harnesses, along with improved safety design of cars, could reduce highway deaths even more substantially.
