Abstract

This paper investigates problems parents are likely to encounter when using child restraint systems commonly available in Australia. Questionnaires and experimental studies lead to recommendations as to the amount and detail of information that should be provided to people buying child restraints. Recommendations are made as to the most suitable restraint for children of different ages. Recommendations include consideration of the likely movements of children of different ages in different restraint systems in a crash. Comfort, safety and other design factors are considered. The number of the covering abstract of the conference is IRRD no 234342.
