Abstract

This paper describes in general how pavement management principles and practices have been transferred thorough technical trainees and then introduced to real applications in some provincial highway network agencies of China. The transfer has occurred through training lectures, workshops and demonstrations. The paper presents a practical model or guide for the systematic implementation of pavement maintenance and rehabilitation mangement practice in China, based on case studies and experience of real applications in North America. It addresses the significant benefits and effectiveness of applying such programs in China by means of technology transfer and training, and provides examples from past and ongoing Canada-China projects.
