Abstract
This book explains the systematic process for checking the road safety of highway and traffic schemes. Since the first edition was published in 2001, there have been many changes in the area of road safety auditing, such as the introduction of a new Road Safety Audit Standard produced by the UK Highways Agency which has resulted in changes in the way road safety audits are carried out. Against the background of the new European Directive, the concept of road safety auditing is becoming more widespread and the number of countries adopting road safety audit procedures and practices is increasing worldwide. This book updates previous knowledge on the subject in an easily accessible format.
