Abstract

This report summarizes and discusses the current pre-overlay treatment practices of state departments of transportation (DOTs) for both hot-mix asphalt and portland cement concrete pavement structures. Information is provided to assist pavement management and pavement design groups in their selection of pre-overlay treatments. Information was gathered through a literature review and a survey of all state DOTs. The survey was augmented by follow-up interviews with individuals. Appendix B (Distress) and Appendix C (Questionnaire Response Summaries) are available online at http://onlinepubs.trb.org/onlinepubs/nchrp/nchrp_syn_388appendixB.pdf and http://onlinepubs.trb.org/onlinepubs/nchrp/nchrp_syn_388appendixC.pdf (Author/publisher)
