Abstract

The purpose of the study is to fill a gap between receptor function and perception at liminal and supraliminal levels of stimulation by a combined use of psychophysical methods and a single unit recording technique in humans, and specifically, to understand the mechanisms by which the two fundamental dimensions of intensity and frequency are coded in an unambiguous fashion.
