Abstract

This paper demonstrates that it may be possible to predict the hysteric component of tyre-road friction for any particular speed of sliding from surface texture measurements and from the frequency response of the damping factors of tyre tread rubber. It was also shown that hysteresis in the tread rubber was responsible for the major component of tyre-road friction.
