Abstract

This brief article discusses the various problems which disabled drivers in Italy have to surmount because of common misapprehensions and prejudices. These include: a) stiffer driving tests, because they are thought to drive more dangerously than able bodied people; b) more complicated procedures when applying for a driving licence; c) unnecessary driving aids; and d) rigid lists of medical conditions which would preclude driving by those people who suffer from them irrespective of individual driving ability.
