Abstract

Road tests are described of a system based on a television camera mounted on the right side of the car with circuitry the television output to an analog signal proportional to the car's lateral position relative to the white lane marker. A servo-controlled motorized steering wheel is used. Analog computer simulation studies were made to determine what else was needed for a control system. Car speed and safety considerations in the road tests were kept under human control.
